With US soldiers returning home from WWII they wrote to Dodge & asked “where can we get a truck like we used in the war?”. Dodge responded by building the Power Wagon.

The Dodge Power Wagon was one of the first ever mass produced 4 wheel drive vehicles made for the general public back in 1946.

Fast forward 62 years…

I travelled to America in early 2012 – to the true American West, with pick up trucks, ranches & guns. I visited the small shops where they fabricate & build these impressive beautiful trucks. I was clearly impressed as these Power Wagons have a stance & presence & not any two are the same. I purchased this truck to make people stand up & take notice! I knew NZ would love it. It is a sight to behold & an experience to drive. It leaves an impression on all that see it in the flesh!

Components & specifications

Fully road legal & certified this truck can be driven daily. The original B1 cab has been roof chopped 3 inches & the original chassis has been shortened by 20 inches. Under the winged hood is the power horse. A Chevrolet Performance E-Rod Ls3 with hot cam pushing out an extra 40HP on top of the already powerful 480HP standard engine. Sporting a heavy duty TH400 transmission to help roll those four big wheels, it meets up with the two speed Atlas transfer case sending the power to the diffs. A twin stick operation within the cab to select gearing. 3 link suspension set up in the front end & a 4 link set up in the rear end. Diff in the front is a Dana 60 with ARB air lockers, diff in the rear is a indestructible Corporate 14 bolt with Detroit lockers. Suspension running 12 inch King Performance racing shocks. This monster has feet to match with 39 inch tall IROK Super Swampers wrapped around top of the line offroad Beadlock rims. This is a no expense spared build, & the integrity & simplicity of the past is still plain to see. An absolute engineering fete coupled with modernisation & restoration that will see this beast rolling for another 60+ years!
